If you’ve lived under a rock the past month, this is Rachel Lindsay, the newest Bachelorette.
These are the men that are vying for her heart this season. Most of them are unimpressive.
So we thought: what if we replaced the men…with dogs?

Hey guys! My name is Syd, and next to me and on my coffee mug is my lil’ stimker, Butch!
Butch is a 4-year-old English Bulldog with a gorgeous underbite, six crooked teefies, and an affinity for extra sharp cheddar cheese sticks. In short, he’s perfect.
Since I’m keenly aware of Butchy’s innate star power, I FINALLY decided it was time to make him an Instagram account — but not before asking some seasoned Insta veterans their advice.
So I took to Petcon, a convention where Instagram-famous pets and their owners meet and mingle with other creators and fans, to learn how to create the best content for Butchy’s page.
Here’s what they said:
1. “Play up your pet’s personality.” — @danzigbros (75,000 followers)
Like Bart, Butchy is also pretty grumpy-looking. Therefore, I tried to play up his tendency to look like an old man who thinks everything and everyone around him is trash.
2. “Find your pet’s niche.” — @izzythe.frenchie (117,000 followers)
While I’m not totally sure of Butchy’s niche yet and I’m not nearlyas crafty as Izzy’s dad, the closest Butchy and I can get to their level of *~gLaMoUr~* is putting him in his winter coat, so:
3. “Post consistently!” —@theklauscat (494,000 followers)
I have to confess that posting consistently on sosh meds (social media) isn’t one of my strong suits. Buuuuuuut I’m happy to report that after starting Butchy’s account six days ago, I’ve posted TEN TIMES!!!!!
4. “Share the special moments you have with your pet!” —@157ofgemma (228,000 followers)
For a special moment to share, I asked my mom to send me this pic she took of me lovin’ on Butch one morning.
This post got some engagement, including my little sister telling me to screw myself for correctly acknowledging that I am Butchy’s favorite.
5. “Engage and collaborate!” —@hotdudeswithdogs (452,000 followers)
So we started engaging with other pet accounts! Here we are and liking and commenting back to a new follower who shares our love of teefies!
6. “Don’t try too hard.” —@bertiebertthepom (282,000 followers)
For some low-hanging, *UNFORCED* content, I posted this quick lil’ vid my mom sent me of Butchy doin’ some mlems. It’s simple, unprompted, and just what the people want!!!!!!
7. “Take well-lit photos and have well-behaved pets!” —@leonardothecorgi (74,000 followers)
While I may not have a fancy camera, my phone DOES happen to have Portrait Mode. JUST LOOK AT THIS HIGH-QUALITY, WELL-LIT VERY GOOB BOYE!!!!!!!!!
Fans of 90 Day Fiancé know that mothers-in-law can make or break a relationship — especially when it comes to the couples on the TLC reality series. This season, we have mama’s boy Colt Johnson, who moved his Brazilian bride-to-be Larissa Dos Santos Lima in the home he shares with his overbearing mother, Debbie. On the other end end of the spectrum we have Fernanda Flores, whose fiancé, Jonathan Rivera, is basically estranged from his mother.
This is something that did not sit well with Fernanda, who made it very clear that she would not tie the knot without her family-in-law’s approval. It also doesn’t help that Jonathan’s mom, Ceci, is “skeptical” of his new relationship — and isn’t thrilled her 32 -year-old son is marrying a 19-year-old girl he met while on vacation in Mexico, who just happens to be younger than his “baby sister.”
On a recent episode, Fernanda finally met her future mother-in-law for the first time and it was awkward, to say the least. It was so bad, Ceci wouldn’t even take her future daughter-in-law wedding dress shopping, leaving Fernanda feeling disappointed and ready to go back to her native country. So, are the two women still feuding today? WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Luckily, it looks like Fernanda and Ceci are in a much better place, and Fernanda even defended her MIL on social media. “Thank you all for being supportive after today’s episode,” Fernanda wrote on Instagram. “I know you guys feel bad for me but [there] is nothing to feel bad for. Ceci did what any mom would do. She worries about her son’s decisions.”
She continued, “Unfortunately, Jonathan after being alone and away from home for many years he lost the communication. It is something that he is working on. It was hard in the beginning, but once that she knew and I showed her that the only thing that I want is to help Jonathan reconnect with his family and be a good wife for him and grow together, she felt relieved and she [has] been really sweet and nice with me. I love her so much for giving birth and raising the awesome man that I have. She is a mama and I love feel[ing] that she is [my] mother-in law and I’m part of her family.”
And it looks like the feelings are mutual. Ceci also gushed about Fernanda on her personal Facebook page, seemingly revealing that the couple officially got married in a now deleted post that even included photos of the courthouse wedding. “May God bless you two, guide you through your marriage with love, patience, compassion, and honor for one another,” the proud mom wrote. “Can’t wait for next year for the wedding fiesta celebration in Mexico! Congratulations!! I love you both!”
We wouldn’t be surprised if their wedding did take place, seeing as Fernanda’s K-1 visa would have definitely expired by now. Plus, Fernanda can’t stop gushing about Jonathan on social media, recently captioning a selfie of the newlyweds(?), “No relationship is all sunshine, but two people can share one umbrella and survive the storm together.”
There are two types of Bachelor fans in this world: the ones who do everything it takes to avoid reading a single spoiler, and those who want to know who Colton Underwood ends up with before the first trailer even drops.
If you’re in the latter group, you’re in luck because The Bachelor spoilers are out — and TBH, they are good. In case you need a quick recap, this season of the reality dating competition will star former professional football player and virgin Colton from Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette.
Now, he’s ready to hand out his roses and find “the one” because as his tag line reads, “What does he have to lose?” So, is Colton engaged and more importantly, did he lose his virginity in the fantasy suite? WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Who does Colton end up with?
According to Reality Steve, the final three ladies were Hannah Godwin, Tayshia Adams, and Cassie Randolph and they joined Colton, 26, for their overnight date in Sagres, Portugal. However, maybe for the first time in Bachelorhistory, Colton made his decision after his first overnight date — and sent both of the other ladies home right away.
This means there was no official final two and no drawn out final rose ceremony, which will be interesting to see play out. So, who is now engaged to Colton? The winner of Season 23 is reportedly Cassie! Previously, RS predicted Cassie would be the winner based on his insider sources. “I will be stunned if Cassie Randolph doesn’t win,” he wrote. “The one thing I heard a few weeks into filming more often than not was, ‘Cassie is gonna win, and Caelynn will be Bachelorette’… I’ve been hearing Cassie is going to win since mid-October.”
Who is Cassie Randolph?
Cassie’s Instagram has been reactivated, so luckily we do know a few things about the future Mrs. Underwood. The blonde beauty is a 23-year-old ESL teacher at an adult school in Huntington Beach, CA. She graduated in 2016 from Biola University with a degree in Communication Sciences and RS also reported that Cassie has a sister named Michelle, who is dating Gregg Sulkin aka Bella Thorne’s ex.
She is also a pretty impressive surfer, a skill she shows off on social media.
Did Colton lose his virginity on The Bachelor?
Unfortunately, there are no spoilers surrounding Colton’s v-card, but if he did, you can bet it will be addressed on the reality series, or at least on the After the Final Rose special. Colton is already trolling his followers on Twitter, sharing a photo from “date night” and writing, “You guys read in to things wayyyy too much… can’t a guy just take his pregnant gal out on a date without speculation on his virginity?”
Will Colton and Cassie get married?
It’s obviously too soon to know if Colton and Cassie will last, but Colton made it very clear he was ready to settle down before filming started. “This is the perfect time in my life to do this,” he told People magazine. “I’m so unbelievably happy with myself and now I can focus on finding my wife. I’m so excited to find that. My heart is 100 percent healed and I’m going to give this my all. And hopefully I’ll come out of it engaged!”
Statistically though, it is not looking good for the engaged couple. Out of 22 seasons, there has been 14 proposals. Currently, only one Bachelor is married to his final choice — Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudice — while Arie Luyendyk Jr. is set to wed his pregnant fiancée Lauren Burnham, who did not win his season, in 2019. Former Bachelor Jason Mesnick is also still married to his runner-up Molly, but since he did not propose to her on the show, it doesn’t technically count either.
Good luck to them!
On December 2, 1983, the music video for “Thriller” was released, forever changing the landscape of the music video world. Before Michael Jackson dropped the nearly 14-minute, horror-themed, funkadelic vid, there wasn’t much storytelling in the medium.
Music videos seemed more like afterthoughts or accompaniments to the song. But “Thriller” flipped the script. When I talked to some of my older family members who got the album before seeing the music video, they mentioned that they never really thought much of the track.
But after MJ debuted his monster masterpiece, perceptions changed. Everyone and their mother learned the dance. Album skyrocketed. In fact, Thriller is still the number two selling record of all time, generating more than 33 million sales, just under The Eagles’ Greatest Hits.
It’s also worth mentioning that the music video is legitimately horrifying at times. Michael Jackson enlisted the help of American Werewolf in London artist Tom Hester to help transform into the vicious hellbeast capable of felling rooted trees with a single blow.
Heck, the Grammy’s created a “Best Music Film” category pretty much because of “Thriller.” Though the name of the category’s changed over the years, it’s still going strong, and all the winners in the category — including some of the artists below — have MJ to thank for that.
Although there’s a lot to be said about “Thriller” just as a music video, it’s difficult to understate how influential it was. Pretty much every “event” music video that’s been released since owes its existence to MJ’s original vision of a cinematic music experience.
Notorious B.I.G. – “Hypnotize”
Although it doesn’t feature as long of an intro as “Thriller” does, Biggie’s “Hypnotize” took current action movie cues from Michael Bay (the video screams Bad Boys) just like MJ borrowed themes from popular horror movies at the time.
Hypnotize, like “Thriller”, carries that theme throughout the music video and transitions seamlessly into the song. They managed to mix in all the elements of a hip-hop music video: fly honeys, big baller lifestyles, and the staple of the ’90s: flowing white clothing.
Guns N’ Roses – “November Rain”
Axl Rose’s post-rehab ballad with Guns N’ Roses was one of the most played-out songs on the radio in the ’90s. In addition to extensive radio play, this long-form music video was just plastered all over MTV, VH1, and The Box back in the day.
The narrative elements and epic shots of the nearly 9-minute song probably wouldn’t have been done in such a cinematic way had it not been for the popularity of a track like “Thriller.” Think about it: you’re a studio exec and your band is asking for $1.5 million to produce a short film for your video — in a world where “Thriller” never existed. Are you greenlighting that? Probably not.
Meat Loaf – “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)”
Meat Loaf’s no stranger to long, epic songs — or theatrics for that matter. I mean have you ever seen him perform “Paradise by the Dashboard Light?” But just like “Thriller,” our buddy Mr. Loaf incorporates a popular movie influence in his 1993 music video.
You know what else came out in 1993? Beauty and the Beast. You know who is made up to look like a beast in the video and lives in a gloomy castle? Meat Loaf. The video for the track tells a pretty convoluted story, but the epic, drawn-out nature, not to mention the horror elements from “Thriller” are at play here.
Aerosmith – “Cryin'”
Aerosmith made a full-blown short film with “Cryin’,” – starring Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone and Stephen Dorf of Blade fame. The video tells the tale of a renegade young girl living life on the edge. It’s a large-scale production that feels like it was pieced together from scenes of an actual, feature-length movie.
Britney Spears – “Oops!…I Did it Again”
Anyone who’s watched TRL will tell you: Britney Spears’ “Oops!…I Did it Again” ruled the countdown for the longest time and it’s easy to see why. Not only was the track an absolute banger when it was released, but it featured a wonderfully cheesy music video with a long intro that sets the “tone” for the song. And let’s not forget the cheesy breakdown when her hot astronaut hunk removes his helmet. Timeless.
A-ha – “Take on Me”
The Norwegian synth pop band’s music video is not only one of the most iconic songs of the ’80s, but it’s also one of the most memorable music videos of all time, and not because of Corky Romano, either.
You could pretty much add any long-form music video to this list that’s full of complicated dance numbers or is book-ended by a narrative story. If there’s a complex, large-scale music video that spins a yarn that came out in 1984 and after, chances are it was influenced by “Thriller,” including MJ’s subsequent videos that came out.
“I can’t believe Adriana Lima is retiring. VSFS’s not going to be the same without her. The new models look like zombies walking on the catwalk,” one longtime viewer sadly tweeted. Another added, “There will never be another Adriana Lima, @KendallJenner please for the love of humanity RETIRE.”
So, seriously, why did Adriana decide to retire when she can still clearly rock the brand’s iconic angel wings better than newbies like Kendall 0r Gigi and Bella Hadid? Well, it turns at the 37-year-old beauty is looking to shift her focus to more projects dedicated to female empowerment.
“I’m looking forward to support women and being connected to different projects which support women around the world,” she told People magazine. “That like my future from now on but I am still happy that I am part of Victoria’s Secret this year. You guys are going to love this year’s show. To me it is definitely going be very special.”
However, that doesn’t mean her decision to leave Victoria’s Secret after nearly 20 years and 18 runway shows was easy. “Dear Victoria, Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly. And all the ❤️ to the best fans in the 🌎! Love, Adriana,” she recently wrote on Instagram, before breaking down in tears during the taping of her fashion show. She also made it very clear she will always be a Victoria’s Secret Angel at heart. “I think this year is going to be the highlight of my career,” she added. “This has been my 18th fashion show and I am still as excited as I was from the first day. I always love to be on runways and being part of the Victoria’s Secret show. It’s my favorite to do.”
Adriana’s first VS Fashion show was in 2000 — when she was a very young 19 years old.
Adriana was still a teenager when she rocked those angel wings for the first time. Since then, she has worn the infamous Fantasy Bra three times in her career. In 2014, Adriana wore matching Fantasy Bras — worth $2 million each — with her BFF and fellow Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, who announced her retirement last year.
“It was an honor to share so many special moments on the runway with you @adrianalima! Love u,” Alessandra wrote shortly after her last runway show.
Maybe it was Alessandra’s retirement that inspired Adriana to step down — after previously predicting she would be an Angel until she was at least 40 years old. “That’s something that doesn’t come into my head,” Adriana said last year. “My plan is to stay as long as my body allows me, at least until I am 40, so that’s four or so more years. But if I can stay longer, I will.”
Don’t forget, Adriana is also a mother of two!
Recently, Adriana gushed about her two daughters, Valentina and Sienna, with ex-husband Marko Jarić, on Instagram writing, “My love… my life… my reason to live… family the strongest bond, no judgement, no matter what love always wins… thank you my two angels for the happiness you bring into my life. Mummy is the luckiest.”
We’re sure her girls will be watching her last VS fashion show.
And Adriana’s last show just might be the best one yet.
The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will end Adriana’s runway career with a bang. Along with performances by Halsey, Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Kelsea Ballerini, Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes, and The Struts, it’s also the brand’s most diverse when it comes to its model lineup.
“We have 60 girls from all over the world representing different countries,” Adriana explained. “We have eight different musicians, which is the most we’ve ever had. We have seven different segments. I am looking forward to seeing Rita Ora — I am such a big fan. She is such a great musician. Besides that she is a beautiful, sweet kind person.”
Watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Sunday, Dec. 2, at 10 p.m. on ABC.
…or not. It’s 2018, which means you can’t ask anyone to marry you without the help of a flash mob, apparently.
1. Russell Brand and Katy Perry
The Russell Brand-Katy Perry union packed so much wackiness in such a short span of time, and a fun blip on the wackometer involved Russell’s New Year’s Eve proposal. Apparently the comedian flew out Katy on a surprise trip to Jaipur, India. According to an US Weekly source, Katy low-key mentioned how much she loved Indian culture when they were eating curry in England, and the trip was a Christmas present. You know, NBD.
The proposal itself happened at the five-star Taj Rambagh Palace hotel, where the stayed in the presidential suite. “We set a table in a garden with candles everywhere,” a hotel worker told Sun. “They arrived in a horse and carriage with a glass of champagne and we served them dinner.” After dinner, Russell arranged for fireworks to ring in 2010 while the pair sat on an elephant. Wait, what?
That sounds so dangerous — how would the elephant not be spooked out by that? That could’ve backfired completely. In any case, it’s a pretty intense move to fly someone to India just because they enjoy curry. My boyfriend’s never flown me to China because of my love of pork buns.
I am comforted by the fact that Russell and Katy got divorced.
2. Seal and Heidi Klum
Oh, Seal, Heidi Klum’s Halloween parties haven’t been the same without you. Back in happier times (2004, to be exact), Seal made a proposal that was both iconic and arctic. Seal basically served his meal and champagne on ice.
“[Seal] took me by helicopter,” Heidi told Marie Claire. “He had an igloo built there, and they’d brought up everything: a bed with sheets inside the igloo, rose petals everywhere, candles. Very, very romantic!”
3. Eva Longoria and Jose Antonio Baston
Eva Longoria got engaged to her businessman beau Jose Antonio Baston in the polar opposite of what Seal and Heidi did. I’m getting sick of all these puns, are you sick of all these puns? Anyway, he proposed in the middle of the desert in Dubai, with a post-engagement celebration with 20 friends at Sass Cafe Dubai.
One conventional aspect of the proposal? The gloss of Ed Sheeran that accompanies their proposal video.
“I’m obsessed with Ed Sheeran right now,” the actress shared in 2017. “I mean, who isn’t? I’m OBSESSED, like when my husband proposed to me, he filmed it and that video is set to the Ed Sheeran song ‘Thinking Out Loud.’”
OK, well, you and every other bride on How He Asked, Eva. Props for the desert thing, though. You don’t see that every day.
4. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
In a twist shocking to no one, Nick Cannon proposed to Mariah Carey twice, which I guess brings her grand total of proposals to four. The first time he hid her 17-carat rock in a candy Ring Pop wrapper — which, much like a combo of fireworks and elephants, sounds dangerous. Nick said it went well, though.
“When I first proposed to my wife, I did it with real Ring Pops,” Cannon says. “I had a Ring Pop wrapper and opened it and was like, ‘Look, baby, our favorite candy!’ She had hers and she was like, ‘Mine is broken.’ She opened it up and it was her real engagement ring. So I’m a romantic guy!”
As for round two? “He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride,” she told Elle Magazine. “Then he re-proposed.”
5. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
What can be said that hasn’t already been seen on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians? OK, once more with feeling: in a televised event, Kanye West pulled out all the stops for his 2013 proposal to Kim Kardashian. He rented the San Francisco Giants’ AT&T Park and sprung to have “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” displayed on the scoreboard. Then he had a 50-piece orchestra serenade her with Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful,” and put a 15-carat diamond engagement ring on her finger while her family (and America) watched. YES, there was champagne after.
Kimye is probably the country’s most divisive power couple, but damn, you can’t undermine that kind of extravagance.
6. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum
Before Channing Tatum proposed to Jenna Dewan-Tatum (I wonder if she’s going to nix the Tatum soon — stoked to find out), he tried to throw her off his scent.
“When I proposed to my wife, I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me,” Channing said. “I basically just told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off.” “I was like nah, ‘I don’t believe in the institution of marriage and I don’t think I ever want to get married, ever.’ She basically just broke down crying.”
First of all, I would’ve murdered him. Second of all, the alleged proposal makes up for the meltdown (a little): apparently he flew Jenna’s close friends out to Maui to bear witness.
7. Christina Aguilera and Jason Bratman
To this day, I side-eye hard about how Jordan Bratman and Christina Aguilera ended up together. But he definitely pulled out all the stops to pop the question. “He sent me on a scavenger hunt,” Christina told US Weekly. “My mom used to do scavenger hunts for me when I was a kid, so it had sentimental value. Each clue was a poem — and in the final clue he proposed!”
Five years later they were dunzo, but that is v. v. sweet.
8. Joe Manganiello and Sofía Vergara
Joe Manganiello and Sofía Vergara are like, an obscenely perfect match, both incredibly extra in buff and bombshell-y proportions, respectively. Yet Joe’s proposal wasn’t focused so much on bombastic gestures. Instead, he worked hard to say, “Will you marry me.” You know, in Spanish.
Yeah, Joe had to brush up HARD on his nominal high school Spanish in order to speak Sofia’s native language for the occasion. “I had a big speech in Spanish, and that’s what I was nervous about,” he shared on Live! with Kelly and Michael. “The last thing you want to do is, like, mess up the Spanish on the proposal to the Colombian woman.” What’s “awww” en español?
9. Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
So there’s this widely circulated story that Tom Brady proposed to Gisele Bündchen on a private jet, with roses, champagne, all that jazz. The roses part is true (of course it is), but Gisele spilled the real tea in her Vogue 73 questions segment. Apparently it involved a dash of gaslighting and Tom risking his health to get on bended knee.
“When he proposed to me, he made up this whole story [about] how my apartment was flooding, and I ran over to fix the situation,” Bundchen told Vogue. “When I got there, the whole apartment had candles and rose petals everywhere, and then he went down on his knees to propose, and I’m like, ‘Get up!’ Because he just had surgery and had three staph infections.”
Truly beautiful, but I can see why the jet story took flight instead.
10. Emmy Rossum and Sam Esmail
Emmy Rossum and her husband, director Sam Esmail, have an infatuation with reading the New York Times“Modern Love” section together, and that ended up being the catalyst for their engagement. In an interview with Vogue, Emmy revealed that one night when she was feeling ill, she skipped out on “Modern Love.” Sam was insistent so she finally agreed so long as she could read it in the bathtub.
“I began to read the article, and the story is about a director who falls in love with an actress, and I started to think: Huh, that’s strange,” Emmy said. “And then I realized that it was our love story.” Oh my God, shut up.
“At first, I freaked out because I thought perhaps he had actually put it in the paper and I hadn’t seen it, and everyone knew it but me,” the Shameless star continued. “And then I kind of scanned to the end and it said, ‘Love, your Sam.’
Sam did however have to contact a New York Times editor in order to place an exact replica of the page in that day’s addition, his column substituting the real one. Do remember that next time your S.O. forgets to pick up a $3 Hallmark card for your birthday.
11. Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson
Oh, who can forget when these Newlyweds were young and in love and not… older and married to other people? Such is the way of Hollywood.
Nick Lachey’s proposal to Jessica Simpson was pretty fancy by the standards of the pre-cameraphone early aughts. People reported that Nick proposed at sunset while on a yacht floating along the Hawaiian waves. “I was wearing a huge sweatshirt that came down to my knees,” she said at the time. “If I had known he was going to propose, I would have at least dressed up cute.”
Don’t worry, 2002 Jess, you’ll get a do-over with Eric Johnson in another nine years.
12. John Stamos and Caitlin McHugh
Ok, because I’m wrapping up and we’re all such good friends now: I really side-eye Disneyland proposals. To each their own, but for me all people involved tend to be: a) way too young to get married, or b) 33-year-old yearly-pass owners in soft Aladdin cosplay. Still, I’ll relent that John Stamos pulled off a cute Disney proposal to his wife, Caitlin McHugh.
Apparently John proposed at the park with a custom short film animated by romantic moments from Pixar and Disney films. At the end of it, Sebastian from The Little Mermaid held up a sign that said “Just ask the girl!” I mean…
Oh and this just in, because I am never wrong: Caitlin is apparently a big Disneybounder and as such, loved the gesture. “She loves Disneyland, and I thought, Okay, Disney …[at the park] I got on my knee and asked her,” Stamos told People. “I pulled the ring out. I don’t know how she did it, but she went to hug me and slipped her finger right in it. When the park closed we ran around the park in our Disney onesies.”
Well, if that’s what you want, go ahead and live happily ever after.
